Currently there are three active Waitangi Tribunal District Inquiries – Porirua ki Manawatū (Wai 2200), North-Eastern Bay of Plenty (Wai 1750), and the Renewed Muriwhenua Land Inquiry (Wai 45). Te Paparahi o Te Raki: Northland (Wai 1040) and Taihape: Rangitīkei ki Rangipō (Wai 2180) District Inquiries are currently at the report writing stage.
Kaupapa (thematic) Inquiries are being progressed, initially focusing on high-priority issues. Topics include Military veterans; Health services and outcomes; Takutai moana; Mana wāhine; Housing policy and services; Constitution, self-government, and the electoral system; Education services and outcomes; Social services and social development; Economic development; Identity and culture; Natural resources and environmental management; Justice system; and Citizenship rights and equality.
